It’s not news that a great way to ground a room is with a rug or that an easy option is a natural sisal or jute rug. I use these in the shop, at Rough Luxe, and in my home. I love to layer rugs on top of them as well and change them throughout the year to change the room.
The other reason I use natural fiber rugs a lot is that they are durable, and we have 4 dogs, so durability is #1 priority. The “secret” is where I get the rugs…if you have worked with me as a design client, you know the secret already, but for those of you that don’t, it’s IKEA. IKEA makes both a great jute and sisal-bound rug, and I use them EVERYWHERE. The reasons….
#1 they are a bargain
#2 they are durable
#3 they look just like something at Pottery Barn
These are the two I use the most: Egeby (bound sisal) $149 for 7×10! If the dogs ruin this rug, I don’t feel bad throwing it away.
The other one I like is Tarnby (jute); these are really great for hiding dirt – 7×10 ish $149.
They just released this new rug, which I am loving too – Stockholm $199
