This week’s before-and-after feature is a creative take on a roadside find! Stylish Patina reader Christy Scott dishes on her love of DIY projects and how she transformed this forgotten nightstand.
“I’m from right outside DC area, I am a teacher who likes to unwind with a few DIY projects. Living in a small apartment poses some issues with storage, but it keeps me from getting too distracted with new projects and ideas! I love finding thrift store finds or side-of-the-road pieces and turning them into things other people love for their home,” Christy said.

“I was excited to have both a shelf and drawer options, and to try out a new skill of stenciling! These Moroccan-styled nightstands came together pretty fast, highlighting the grain of the wood and adding a classy detail in any home. Here are the after pictures of Christy’s creative Moroccan chalk paint transformation.
“The last fun detail was turning an old belt into a handle!” We love this addition!
