Happy New Year, everyone! We are kicking 2015 off with an inspiring DIY kitchen transformation. One of our readers, Tanya, submitted this project to us here, and we are so excited to share it with you all.
Full of little details and a seriously stylish vintage Pyrex collection – this kitchen makeover will inspire you to get busy this year.
Take it away, Tanya!
“I recently moved the a sweet bungalow on Lake Superior and am in the midst of making it over on a small budget. Paint is my not-so-secret weapon of choice! I am an AVID diy-er and, with my Handy Hubby, I’ve tackled it all. From painting my car to making art and updating furniture, we’ll try any project at least once,” said Tanya.
“The kitchen has been a labor of love. We’re saving for a real-deal reno, but that might take 5+ years. In the meantime, we wanted to make it more functional and fun. We went bold: painting the lower cabinets a cheery aqua and replacing all of the awkward upper cabinetry with open shelving. To save money we replaced dated tile with cottage-appropriate paneling and made our own solid maple counters,” said Tanya.
Here is the before image of Tanya’s kitchen.
We need a drumroll for this after reveal…da da da da da…
And just look at Tanya’s bright and cheery vintage pyrex collection.
“I love how the space feels happy and casual, and cost less than $1,500. Re-doing the kitchen doesn’t seem so urgent now…thanks for letting me share,” said Tanya. Thank YOU for sharing Tanya!
