I thought I’d give you a little update on our twin pregnancy. Things seem to be moving along without too many complications other than the fact that I am really feeling how big I am getting. Ugh…bending down and picking things up is becoming a chore; sitting isn’t even comfortable. I am halfway through my 31st week. They are hoping to keep them in there until 38 weeks, but many twins come at 35 weeks. It’s so funny I know 3 other couples having twins, and 2 of them have delivered. It’s been fun watching them and hopefully learning from them too!
Everyone says I’m not that big; it sure feels like it, and the scale is definitely showing the weight gain. Those babies aren’t lacking for extra pounds, believe me! The big changes this week have been swelling. I was really hoping that I was going to get away without any swelling, but no such luck this week; it showed up in the hands and feet. I find if I lay down on my side it helps to reduce it, but boy oh boy no fun! And my new best friends are my running shoes; usually I live in flip-flops, but the last week or two I realized my feet and legs needed some help carrying around all that weight.
So far they have not put me on bed rest yet, and if I don’t have any high blood pressure issues (fingers crossed) I think they will let me keep a moderate activity level. I do try and take a 30 min walk a day in the neighborhood and then work, but usually around 3/4 each day I notice my body telling me it’s time to take a break, so I camp on my side and work on the computer.
I can’t wait until next week is over. We will be in the new house (see update on the house here), and although we will be without a kitchen and they will still be working on it, we will at least be starting to get settled into our new home, and I can lay around more if necessary.
