Meet Florence: Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan

Meet Florence: Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan

Meet Florence Chalk Paint®, by Annie Sloan!

Florence is a sophisticated grand color found in neoclassical Italian and French interiors and on painted furniture. The color originates from copper green minerals and malachite. It’s also a great modern 20th-century color. Florence is my favorite color! It is absolutely gorgeous on any piece of furniture or accessory. This is one of my favorite colors to mix with! Florence mixed with Aubusson Blue is gorgeous.

The above chandelier is one of Annie’s favorite projects from her latest book, Annie Sloan Paints Everything. Annie discusses how she loves old brass lights, and she loved the interesting details on this old French piece. Annie says, “Look at the triumphant, open-winged eagle at the top and the open-mouthed dolphin's head! To add a bit of color to a room and to bring out the fun design, Annie painted this piece with Chalk Paint® in Florence.” I have hand-painted and spray-painted many a builder-grade brass chandelier. It is an easy and quick fix!

Annie painted the chandelier using Chalk Paint® in Florence, a coppery green that subtly contrasts with the warm hue of brass. While the paint was still wet, she took a damp cloth to the ornate and raised sections of the light fixture, wiping away the paint to reveal the brass beneath. She then finished it off with ClearWax. A full step-by-step guide to this chandelier up-cycle is in Annie Sloan’s book Annie Sloan Paints Everything.

Check out these drool-worthy projects using Florence! I have an entire PIN BOARD dedicated to this color if you want to check it out. Here is a sneak peek of my favorites below. Are you feeling inspired yet?

Don’t forget how easy Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan is to use- no prep, NO PRIMING needed. Just pop the top and go! Check out the Annie Sloan YouTube page for some videos with Annie herself.
