House update — we are supposed to close on Monday, August 4th, so look for a little video with a tour of the house!
On to the projects….one of the many projects on our new house renovation list is the mud room, which for the time being also functions as the laundry room. It’s off the 2-car garage, which makes it perfect for a mud room and not so perfect for the laundry. I’ll share a picture of the space once we get in, but there is an option to create a little laundry room and close it off, so I am considering that down the road. Initially we will be buying a new washer/dryer, installing a folding counter, and getting a new functional sink. There are old school cabinets above the w/d, so I am thinking we will remove those and install floating shelves or taller new cabinets.
For the flooring in the mudroom, hubby and I agreed on tile for easy wear. I went to the old Home Depot to look at their selection since we are on a budget! They have this new porcelain tile that looks like marble to me. I fell in love with it (the one on the right). The idea is to lay it in a herringbone pattern that could change once I get in the space next week. This tile is so affordable, like $2.99/sq ft!
The wall color for the room is going to be Wickham Gray by Benjamin Moore. It is light and airy which is the goal of the space. The picture is Wickham Grey and you can see it has hints of blue and green in it, which I love. I envision that as our twins get bigger, creating a cubby area and hooks for all of their things (and moving the washer dryer).
This is what I am looking at for a stackable washer/dryer. Electrolux 4.3 cu. ft. Front Load Washer/dryer. We bought something like this for our current house and have loved it, plus since they stack, it will give us more room!
That’s it for now! Stay tuned for more updates.
