Let me start by saying I am not a Pink girl; I live in black + grey with an accent of gold most days. I like jeans with a black shirt pretty much every day of my life, but for some reason all this crazy stuff going on in the world got me thinking about painting my door pink. I thought it would look great against the white brick; see this post about that DIY project. We recently added black shutters, and so I thought it would be a fun way to add a little WOW to the front of the house from the street.
I used the Jolie Paint line that I carry in my retail store (you can buy it online here too). The color is called Hibiscus, and it just makes me happy to look at it. I wiped down the door and just threw it on. The best thing about Jolie paint is that there is no priming or sanding; that is why I use it on everything. You basically can’t go wrong with it. I still want to paint one more coat of paint on the door, and then I will use our low-luster varnish to seal it. You can’t use wax because it will melt in the sun. You do not have to seal it; I just want to because it will deepen the color a little bit, and I think it will be pretty. Pardon my non-styled picture; we still need to do landscaping and plants on the steps and so much more, but it’s real life, not Pinterest over here these days and most days, honestly.
I love watching people walk by when we are in the front of the yard, and they always comment on the door. I think it makes them happy too!
Happy painting!
