We are on vacation this week in Upstate NY with my brother + his wife and my mom + dad. My entire childhood, every summer we went to the lake since my grandparents were in Binghamton, NY, and my dad was a professor so he had summers off. I have so many fond memories of summers at the lake. We are settling into lake living and trying to figure out vacation with twins:-) We drove through the night so they could sleep and arrived early Sunday morning. So far we have enjoyed a lot of quality family time, good home-cooked meals, and still by the water. We only get to see my brother + his wife a couple times a year since they live in Savannah Ga so this is a big treat for us.
We are staying on Tuscarora Lake close to two cute towns, Casanova and Hamilton. PLUS we are 10 miles from Bouckville, NY, where they have a HUGE antique show in August. I’d love to be able to go picking for the shop when they have the show, but no such luck this year. We did go antiquing a little yesterday in Bouckville and got a couple of treasures; I will share them with you over the next couple of days. You can also check out pics of our trip and the treasures I have found on Instagram. It’s interesting to see what types of vintage furniture they sell, prices, etc. So far I have seen maybe one piece of painted furniture; it’s mainly traditional antiques and vintage, and the prices are about 3x what we sell things for at the shop and Rough Luxe. We are going to check out an auction on Thursday should be fun to see what items sell for…..stay tuned for the update. You can always follow along via social media.
