Our newest DIY product in the shop is Wise Owl’s One Hour Enamel. We often have customers come in wanting to paint their cabinets, whether it be in the kitchen, bathroom, or mudroom. We’ve found the answer to making the whole process much easier!
With Wise Owl’s One Hour Enamel, it is a little different from your typical chalk-type or acrylic paints. There’s a little more prep work involved, but there is NO TOP COATING! That’s right– your hard work will last throughout the years without any sort of top coating; the magic of this product!
To start, the surface must be cleaned and primed. Wise Owl’s primer comes in white, grey, or clear. These options are great if you plan on distressing or need more coverage depending on the color you choose. Two coats of primer and 2-3 coats of the One Hour Enamel, and a transformation will happen right before your eyes! Rightfully dubbed as “one hour” enamel, this product will dry VERY FAST!
Here is a thorough step-by-step tutorial from Diane at The Paint Factory. She painted her bottom cabinets in Weathervane and used the Wise Owl Clear Primer underneath. Her tools of choice were the Cling! On brushes for their super smooth finish.
