The floors are finally finished in the new house (see more updated here), and I love them. I posted a picture of them on our Facebook page and received lots of questions on the color, finish, and who did them, so here are the details:
– The stain is Minwax Special Walnut
– The top coat was done in a satin oil-based top coat
– My contractor is Cesar Arevalo (240) 289-3831.
I chose to use a satin finish vs. semi-gloss. The satin finish is what we did in our current house. It doesn’t have the same shine as a semi-gloss, but I am okay with it. Between the dogs, soon-to-be kids, etc. I think the satin is going to be more forgiving in the long run.
As for the color, I think it’s a perfect middle-of-the-road color, not too light and not too dark. The color as well I am hoping will be pretty forgiving and hopefully not show every little spec of dust and dog paw print (unlike our current dark hardwood floors).
